Cornwall Play Safety was founded by Mick, after a working lifetime in construction and the trades. Four decades on sites teaches you two things that matter in this job: how materials and fixings actually wear — where rot starts, what corrosion does to a weld, which movement is settlement and which is failure — and how to write a finding so the person fixing it knows exactly what to do.

Play inspection is a natural home for that experience. The equipment is structural, the environment is Cornish (salt air, Atlantic winters, hard seasonal use), and the stakes are children. It rewards a careful eye far more than it rewards a clipboard.

Accreditation, stated precisely

Routine and operational inspections are carried out under RPII (Register of Play Inspectors International) registration at those grades — the accreditation the UK play industry, insurers and courts recognise for those inspection tiers. The independent annual main inspection requires the separate RPII Annual grade, which we don't personally hold and won't blur: annuals are delivered by an Annual-grade inspector through our accredited partner, arranged and invoiced by Cornwall Play Safety so you get the full regime from one contact.

Independent by design

We inspect. We don't sell equipment, repairs or maintenance contracts, which means a finding is never a sales lead. Councils and parks get an arm's-length record — the kind that stands up when an insurer, an auditor or a claimant's solicitor asks who checked the equipment and what they found.

Local, deliberately

One county, done well, beats six counties done from a motorway. Being based near St Austell means every site in Cornwall is within reach for a scheduled round or a quick response after storm damage — and it means your inspector is the same person every visit, watching the same equipment age over time instead of seeing it cold once a year.
